Artist bio

Amanda Moore has lived in Manly Whangaparaoa for 20 years and she uses the visual language of colour and light to deeply connect with the places and people she meets in the land she calls home.
As a child, drawing was a way to be an independent observer and thereby her own silent point of view could be seen. Today, she continues to build her sense of connection and belonging by using paint to explore a patchwork of elements that all arises together.
It's a practice that helps her go beyond what she knows or sees, and to feel moved by the experience. She hopes this process results in paintings that reverberate as powerfully for you as they do for her.
Since 2005, her work has been exhibited across the North Shore in the Hibiscus and Bays Art Awards, Estuary Arts Centre, NorthArt, The Pump House and Rodney District Art Awards.
In 2022 ‘Math Tutor’, a portrait of her son, was selected for the Adam Portraiture Award and exhibited at the New Zealand Portrait Gallery in Wellington. And in 2024 her self-portrait won a special commendation in ArtEdit’s Self-Represented Artist Award, appearing in their Magazine #39
